What movie did you just see?

A big movie week...
Cinderella Man-- One of the best I've seen this year.
Star Wars III-- Great special effects, but not very good overall.
Crash--A must see movie. Excellent acting by everyone in it.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith-- This a VERY FUNNY movie. This was much better than I thought it would be!

Also got a chance to see Cinderella Man and Mr. and Mrs. Smith and would agree both were excellent movies. Russell Crowe does an excellent job in portraying World heavyweight boxing champion 1935 - 1937 Jim Braddock, definitely one of the better movies I've this year so far. Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie was well balanced with humor and action throughout the movie, I'd recommend it.

The Big Empty

Off-beat, quirky comedy about an out of work actor who gets coerced into delivering a blue suitcase (contents unknown) to a small desert town, where he is to meet a mysterious man known only as "Cowboy". Jon Favreau is the lead, and does a terrific job. Also stars Rachel Leigh Cook, Kelsey Grammar, Daryl Hannah, and Sean Bean as "Cowboy".

Wasn't expecting much from this, and after seeing it listed for several days on cable, decided one afternoon to give it a shot. Loved it, it's become one of my favorites.

Thanks to whoever suggested Hotel Rwanda. I found it somewhat slow moving (in the beginning) but intriguing none the less. Even after 2 hours I wanted to see more and was disappointed that the story just didn't keep going.

Suburban Madness - Drama. Elizabeth Peña (she filled out nicely), Sela Ward, Brett Cullen. Based on a true story.

Woman runs over her cheating husband 3 times in a parking lot.

I found it a little slow in places but also entertaining.

I concur with your reviews.

I also saw "The Fly" on USA. Gross and disgusting, but nevertheless very good.
Anyone know if USA edits out grossness, because I can not think of a grosser film.

The Score
Eh. A little boring but enough if you just want to past time. Good actors wasted on a movie that didn't really go anywhere. I didn't even really care about the double crossing at the end.

After the Sunset

The plot wasn't much, but I liked the humor. The little twist at the end of the movie was nice too.

2 Fast 2 Furious

I never even saw the first one. I'm not a big fan of racing so this really wasn't great for me. The acting was ok and the storyline... well people drove really fast and looked good doing it.

Star Wars III.

I thought it was very good - great improvement over I and II. Comparable to IV (Empire Strikes Back).

Don't forget Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime). So it's not as cute or kids-friendly as the other three, but it's my favorite Hayao Miyazaki movie, great soundtrack too.

Red & Yami,

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully Hollywood Video will have them in stock.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lost Souls - Horror / Drama. Religious overtones. There's no green soup in this one. I found it very interesting and entertaining, lacking the shock value of other same-gendre movies.

Grudge - Sarah Michelle Geller. Horror. A bigger budget Ju-On with a plethora of actors in throw-away performances. Utterly unsatisfying.

Darkness - Giancarlo Giannini. Horror. 5.1

I saw the unrated version and while it did have its moments and it forced me to use the rewind / slow mo / stop / freeze frame to get a better view, ultimately I find it somewhat unfulfilling with a nice unexpected ending. Will I ever watch it again? Probably not.
