My day was made awsome with my new - old Arcam dac that cost less than $100. It betters my other modern 24 bit dacs in regards to refinement, soundstage, fullness and natural timbre. Just goes to show, newer technology isn't always better. Good old phillips TDA1541a!

I ripped my first CD to flac today! I used DBpower Amp... used level 6 compression, can anyone here even tell the difference between level 6 and un-compressed?

There is no difference between lossless and un-compressed.

I mean levels of compression that encoders offer when you rip a CD,  level one compression is like 500 kbps and level 6 is around 1000kbps or something like that

The difference between a mid-level FLAC rip and a top-level rip is only distinguishable with good equipment, but many here on Head-Fi claim to hear the difference, albeit in subtle ways.

Had a listen to the SPL Phonitor today at the new Jaben's in the CBD, paired with the HD800, this is something that I must have for Christmas, night and day difference to the V100, V200 I've owned and heard.
