What is your vote for the best sounding portable headphones

I suppose it depends on what you call portable. Perhaps what you're asking is: What is the best compromise for portable use?
The winner for me is the Senn PXC250. It's sound quality falls short of the D66 but it's more practical for portable use.

Uh, Orpheus?

I mean, a generator can be considered portable, right?

Seriously though, the er4p has it, hands down. Nothing can compare.

Best-sounding portable that I've heard: HD580 + Supreme + SL-CT470. It sacrifices as much portability as possible to produce the highest possible sound quality, but that's what I'm after. If you're looking for on-the-go while jogging or in a quiet study-type situtation then the choices change due to the characteristics of this combo. I'd say in that case Etys but I've never heard them.

Cheers,

Stax Nova Signature with the Stax SRD-P battery operated
amplifier.

But in a noisy airplane, either the Sony NC10 noise-cancelling
phones, or the Ety ER-4P.

The Etys by a wide margin.

When I need to hear what is going on I have been using the Audio-Technica ATH-EM7's and Koss Porta Pros

If votes from people with less than 10 HQ cans experience are allowed, I vote for the KSC-35
