If I think of what I drag out most often; a little night music is always fun. As are some tunes for the Royal Fireworks.

Not symphonies in the truest sense. Buy hey; they have a number of movements.

Beethoven 9th
Tchaikovsky 5th
Dvorak 9th

I'm still pretty new to classical so I'll just leave it at those for now. I think that I'm going to have to pick up some Mahler now, haha.

You know, I like all that serious stuff- Bruckner and Mahler and Beethoven- but the symphonies that I love are Schubert's 9th, Dvorak's New World and Mendelssohn's Italian and Scottish.

See ya

Beethoven 3...

I'm still amazed at the lack of support for the Eroica in this thread. I think this is only the second mention. Few works of art of any kind hold my attention like symphony #3. When I want to remind myself of what "recapitulation" means, I listen to the parts of this glorious work where the main theme comes roaring back. In my unlettered, untutored opinoin, this is the absolute pinnacle of Beethoven's art. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I remember someone once described this as "no-one's favourite Brahms symphony" - I guess you just proved them wrong!
