What an Era for Music. Maybe the internet might foster an underground and creative enviornment for the next Musical Revolution. But never at that level.

There sure are a lot of great records from this year that I could
easily pick as my favorite record du jour.

But I am going to go with:

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew

Not only do I think it is the best album of 1969, but it is also
the most innovative record to come out that year. The other albums
on the list are all great, but none of them really break any new
ground.

indeed it is a fabulous and innovative album, although i'm not sure it's more innovative than the album that got my vote, ItCotKC which kicked off the progressive rock era. both BB and Live Dead should have been included in the poll (can the limit of 10 items be increased? moderator intervention please!), LD being perhaps the archetypical dead/jam band album. what a wonderful version of dark star - perhaps their signature song, if any song from the band with the most diverse repertoire out there, could be identified as such!
