Sorry but I had to go with "Not on the List".

Why? Here's three very good reasons:

1) Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica (as previously mentioned)

2) The Grateful Dead - Live Dead (how did everyone miss this one?)

3) Miles Davis - Bitches Brew (yes, I know it's "jazz" but many jazz fans consider "Bitches" to be a rock album and the final blow in the death of jazz, at least until the holy one, Wynton Marsalis, singlehandedly resurrected jazz from the ashes of the fire started by Miles Davis and fusion, oops, I mean devil music.)

Nobody listens to The Band anymore! What's up with you crazy people! They played at least as tight as the Stones (in other words, better than just about any other contemporary band -- actually PLAYED, as opposed to studio art), and had more vocal talent and nearly as much songwriting talent as the Beatles. Zep was the only band that could touch them, IMO.

Sometimes I actually have to explain to people who they were. Unbelievable.

I voted for In the Court of the Crimson King. It's my favorite of what's listed. Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album. Hot Rats is one of my favorite Zappa albums. I probably have voted for that if it was listed.

Wow, great poll. I had to go with Zeppelin's debut, but if I had known Velvet Underground only had one vote, I might have been tempted to shore them up.
