I know this is going to sound stupid (or anal), but it needs to be said.

You have the components in the wrong order!

My opinion, from top to bottom:
Tuner
Pre-Amp
Equalizer
Power Amp

Most people would swap the Pre-Amp and Equalizer around from my order.

My dad put all of that stuff down there. It was originally in the order you mentioned when it was up on this floor.

LOL I don't know where the "correct" order of components came from, but it just seems like they should be placed in a certain order. It must be a zen thing, or something.
