things were never easy for me
peace of mind was hard to find
and I needed a place where I could hide
somewhere I could call mine

I didn't think much about it
'til it started happening all the time
soon I was living with the fear everyday
of what might happen that night
I couldn't stand to hear the crying
of my mother and I remember when I swore
that would be the last they'd see of me
and I never went home again

they say that time is a healer
and now my wounds are not the same
I rang the bell with my heart in my mouth
I had to hear what he'd say
He sat me down to talk to me
he looked me straight in the eyes

he said:

You're no son, no son of mine
You're no son, no son of mine
You walked out, you left us behind
and you're no son, you're no son of mine

oh his words how they hurt me, I'll never forget it
and as the time, it went by, I lived to regret it

You're no son, you're no son of mine
but where should I go, and what should I do
you're no son, no son of mine
but I came here for help, oh I came here for you

Well the years they passed slowly
I thought about him everyday
what would I do, if we passed on the street
would I keep running away

in and out of hiding places
soon I'd have to face the facts
we'd have to sit down and talk it over
and that would mean going back

they say that time is a healer
and now my wounds are not the same
I rang the bell with my heart in my mouth
I had to hear what he'd say
He sat me down to talk to me
he looked me straight in the eyes

he said:

You're no son, you're no son of mine
You're no son, you're no son of mine
You walked out, you left us behind
and you're no son, you're no son of mine

I second this one it makes my heart ache when i hear it....

For me, it's a song that recently hit the spotlight as sung by Willie Nelson: Bob Dylan's "He Was a Friend of Mine". Makes me cry almost as much as his "Ramblin', Gamblin' Willie" makes me smile.

But neither one holds a candle to my main man, Nigel Tufnel. There have been times in my life when I could cry just thinkin' 'bout "Lick My Love Pump"

Not many, mind you; but at times ....

I dug up this thread to post Willie Nelson - Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain..

In the twilight glow i see her
Blue eyes crying in the rain
When we kissed goodbye and parted
I knew we'd never meet again

Love is like a dying ember
And only memories remain
And through the ages i'll remember
Blue eyes crying in the rain.

Someday when we meet up yonder
We'll stroll hand in hand again
In the land that knows no parting
For blue eyes crying in the rain.

Also another equally sad song is "You Are My Sunshine"

Frank Zappa's Watermelon in Easter Hay has got to be the saddest sounding solo I've heard. Very very good though!

Thanks for the suggestion. I was in Bloomfield on my way to Chama last week and would have stopped by the record store in Aztec, but a small herd of goats had the road blocked.

Sunday is gloomy,
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
Sorrow has taken you

Angels have no thoughts
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is sunday,
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
But let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressin' you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessin' you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart here
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin' you
How much I wanted you

Gloomy Sunday

I actually listened to the lyrics of Fear Factory's "Timelessness" and it brought a tear to my eyes.

"I've felt darkness
closing in on me
Chilling shadows
surrounding me
I've had the poison
leak into my skin
And it corroded
my heart away
Bled away
Cut away
Dark night of my soul..."

I did have some beer in me at the time as well.
