Well, I haven't exactly got it yet but it should arrive within a week and a half. <finger crossing emoticon> I won a custom AE-1 at the 2006 LA Meet. It's turned into a custom AE-2. It only cost $40 (the price of the raffle tickets).

Wow, that is a great deal. Congrats!

I've heard the 2905 (the highs were perfect), and supposedly the 989 is similar for significantly less. In your case, MUCH less!

wow. didn't see the esl989 post - awesome deal, man! i'd kill for a pair of vintage quads. they just reproduce the midrange and treble so heartmeltingly beautiful. some say that the esl57 is even better!

also, think of the people that bought esl57s back in the 50s for under 100 pounds a pair! still only $1000 in today's money, and this is often said to be the greatest speaker ever produced. 50 years ago!
