What is near perfect but won't break the bank?

OP: You'll soon discover that the relationship between frequency graphs and perceived sound is...equivocal.

At any rate, Denon D2000 is a very nice set of headphones, though I'm not sure where you're getting them at half the price of HD650. They're relatively easy to drive, though an amp is highly recommended. They're closed, but have an impressively wide soundstage despite of that. They're famous for the bass emphasis, which some find over-powering and farty. I don't think they're all that bad, really. They're laid back headphones, lacking the fast, in-your-face attitude characteristic of Grados. The stock cable is badly built, so you might want to factor in the price of a recable. They're also kind of fragile, so I wouldn't bring them out and about so much.

Hope that helps.
