Sure, and there actually are a few decent amps to be built at $50. A sijosae class-ab running off a simple lm317 or even 7824 would be great for hd600. A mosfet or bjt source follower can be made at same prices.

I just finished a SHA buffer tonight, parts cost was about $50 and it sounds very nice.
