A skeptic would say that such taking into account is impossible. When you were doing the listening tests, "corrupting" information (which cable was which, or even the fact that you were comparing two different cables), along with all your preconceptions, was already present in your mind. You can't unring that bell.

So anybody commenting on something without the science/church stamp of approval is a heretic? By the above view, nobody having a rig can be credible because they are biased. So who is qualified to comment?

This is why there are so few willing to step up to the debate on the positive side. Their rigs sound better to them so who cares what others think? Their gain, your loss.

The skeptic saves their money and listens to their gramophones in bliss.

I think the use of lie detector and truth serum would help solve many problems in life. If you were to ask a cable manufacturer to submit himself to either of these when being questioned about cables and he refuses, that is damning of that person in my book. And to hell with privacy, this is a matter of life and death if you ask some anti-cablers. But I'm certain some manufacturers really believe in what they sell.

Then the theoretical about a scientific breakthrough proving some cables make a difference while others are "fraudulent" (whatever that means, identical to stock?). If my cables happen to be in the latter group, I'd do some listening tests with cables in both groups to try to see if my subjective opinion will match their observation, and if I still feel my cables really do make a difference, consider the possibility that maybe they haven't disproven that the cables in the supposed latter group really are in that group. But I'll most likely try to avoid being too vocal about such an opinion if someday a certain kind of cable is proven to produce an audible difference.

on the topic of cables and if they matter, has anyone who believes cables don't matter compared the HD650 with stock and Zu mobious cables? I haven't, just curious because it seems unanimous that the Zu does make a difference. Myself I remain neutral until I conduct the experiment but no way can I shell out > $400 on a headphone cable.

Nobody's a heretic. Just human, with the limits on human perception that nature puts on all of us. Everyone is qualified to comment on what they hear. In fact everyone is equally qualified in that regard - "golden ears" being a myth of the audiophile press. The skeptic (or at least this skeptic) merely places no value on such an impression without additional evidence.

And skeptics don't listen to gramaphones. They listen to the stacks of CDs and LPs they purchased with the money they didn't waste on cables, power cords, magic pebbles and the rest.

Whats wrong with discussing about cables ?

Of the many debatable things in audio cables are among the most dangerous. Burn-in is a hotly debated topic but it costs nothing to burn-in your headphones/earphones for 200 hours. However you have to pay a decent amount of money for that 'hi-fi' cable.

A few months back I was ready to plop $150 for a nice silver cryo cable when I read that (maybe) cables make little (if any) difference to the sound. So I saved my $150.

$150 may be a pittance to you but that's almost half my monthly salary ! So if somehow someone can actually prove that cables do squat to sound, then so many people can save their hard earned money. If the opposite happens and someone proves that cables make a noticeable and measurable difference then what the hell Ill pay that $150 for that cryo cable !

Thank you! I was beginning to think that people ask for equipment advice at audiophile forums because they want to get ripped off.

I don't need to tell you what we found, I think you know, but I built my power cords for about 85 bucks using all top shelf parts!

OK, Nobody has talked about the DIY copies (like mine above) I guess I should have added that the DIY ones that We've made do sound better then the plain stock ac cables and/or stock I.C.s that come with todays gear! But I will tell you that "IT"(better sound) very well could be "ME" knowing what went into said cables and that "they" have to sound better, RIGHT!! Hell I just placeboed myself!!!! Do stock cables even come with NEW HIGH $$$ Equipment in todays market, or do the dealers just assume you're ready to shell out more for "THE BEST CABLES" he has on his shelves???? REALLY???

Lets say for arguments sake I was that salesman that got drunk and robs from the innocent with lies, lies and more lies.

You could always take your measured data as the first exhibit in a class action lawsuit against my injustice.

Unfortunately the objective data will not hold up in the court of law - and I am free to continue my campaign of deception - having deceived the law. I might as well up the antte and scheme for world domination.

Well I am an evil genuis and this is what evil genuises do. Afterall it is a "Free" enterprise.

Thing is, DBT/skeptics would destroy a large of portion of economy related to audio gear if people begin to listen to them. Since DBT alone will kill 95% of custom cable market, 90% of DAC market and probably 50% or so of amplifier market.

But fortunately people hate DBT for stupid reasons.

Your honor, I present to you exhibit B...

Don't hate it at all. Just don't care for it - kinda like pin the tail to the donkey for grown ups - I guess it could be amusing when you got that much time on your hands.

Hey? does that mean I could't tell the difference between a donkeys head or .....ASS!!!
LOL!!!
I crack myself up.

Guess what - I allready quit my day job - loving the freedom!!!
