I have something new on loan; I am currently listening to an almost immaculate pair of Stax SR3 "ear speakers" from the 1970's.

MacBook--> Grace m9XX--> SMSL SA 160 class D amp---> Stax SRD-5 Adapter--> SR3

This is my first opportunity to listen to electrostatics- it is going to be a long weekend.

Initial impression is that of high resolution in the mids, sweet but forward highs and neutral bass, somewhat similar to a HD600 but less punch. So far, very good with Jazz and female vocals, lacking in the lower registers for electronic, metal and Bossa...

I had a long equipment journey behind me. I now settled on:

HeadAmp GSX-MK2, a very musical Aqua La Voce S2 DAC, and HD800 aus my main headphones.

Just listening to 'Goldberg Variations' BWV 988, performed by the legendary Glenn Gould.

It's music in perfection, both by the artist and the equipment!
