After a spell of noir movies - I picked up Dashiell Hammett. "Red Harvest" - pretty good; "The Dain Curse" - not for me, quit 2/3 of the way - which makes it the 4th time I have ever done that. "Thin Man" & "Maltese Falcon" up next.

Warning: ideas and opinions of that time, not P.C. But interesting dated slang abounds.

the places that Mr. Clemens described. Now it's across
the Atlantic to visit Europe and the Holy Land. His writing
is not easy and requires rapt attention or I miss the zings
he throws at me.
