Prokofiev Symphony # 5.  Mariss Jansons: Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra on Chandos.

i love everything about the sound of this recording: soundstage, highs, lows, mids, solo instrument sounds, masses of strings, and the music itself.  This is easily one of my favorite pieces of classical pieces.  Very exciting.  Very dramatic.  Highly recommended.   Probably a good piece to demo your system.

Edit
Just came across this randomly on Bandcamp. The gorgeous artwork really caught my eye (apparently the character is from an anime I'm not familiar with) and after sampling a few of the tracks the music seemed like it might appeal to me so I thought, "Hey, two bucks isn't a bad price," so I made the purchase. The music is very hip hop flavored, if you're wondering. About to listen to it now.
