Grateful Dead ~ Road Trips Vol. 2 No. 4 Bonus Disc

5/27/93 at Cal Expo

I just pulled out my tickets and it seems I skipped the spring tour that year.
Cal Expo was a great place to see them. That and Autzen Stadium were my favorites.

The Kinks, One for the Road

Much of it recorded where I grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, 1979.  It brings back memories of early concerts for me.

I gave HDtracks 96/24 a try with this one... Once I hear the opening track I can't seem to do anything but listen all the way through, then I do it again.

Bach's "Toccata in D Minor" from "J.S. Bach Orgelwerke Toccaten & Fugen by Ton Koopman" for Archiv production.

Set up: CD690 (Volume on 50%) + K181 (Large Club/bass)

This track is one of my favourite test tracks for the needed transparency, balance, detail and low end extension. Also the rendering of the church acoustics is tricky. I am not sure if the K181 sounds transparent enought but balance, detail and low end extension are there. The soundstage imaging is at least good enough now. Even so I am quite exstatic for the church organ sounds as overwhelming and thunderous as it should sound. Bach and church organs are a challenge. All I could wish for now is to attend a life concert for that is audible bliss with a good and inspired organist. "Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C Major" just finished, this K181 is keeper... Time for King Crimson.
