Secret Oyster - "Sea Son"

Quote:

The second album from the legendary Danish progressive jazz-rock supergroup Secret Oyster. "Sea Son" was originally released in 1974 on CBS and is now considered by many to be the pinnacle of the band's catalog. The fiery interplay between alto/soprano sax player Karsten Vogel, guitarist Claus Bohling and keyboardist Kenneth Knudsen parallel the work of their contemporaries Return to Forever and Mahavishnu Orchestra. With a new rhythm section of bassist Jess Staehr (Burnin Red Ivanhoe) and drummer Ole Streenberg (Coronarias Dans) the band found equal footing in the world of rock and jazz. The track "Mind Movie" offers nine minutes of pure psychedelic guitar driven fury from Bohling. In counterpoint a string quartet appears on "Painforest" presenting a mellower side to the band. Perhaps it's the constant tension between the rock and jazz genres and the band's ability to blend both seamless that is the reason for their success.

Witthuser & Westrupp - "Der Jesuspilz/Musik Vom Evangelium"

Quote:

The acid duo of Bernd Witthuser and Walter Westrupp followed their 1971 debut with what I'm sure at the time was Gille Lettmann and Rolf Ulrich Kaiser's favorite album. 'Der Jesuspilz/Musik Von Evangelium' is a concept album with the belief that some bible verses are about drugs. Like their first album, their acid-folk tendencies are in full effect, but this time the result is a bit odd and unconventional as some of the material gives the impression that it was either conceived or produced while under the effects of the drug du jour.
