I agree. I met him in 1991 when I filled in for a friend who was sick and ran the sound board at One Step Beyond in Santa Clara for his show. Great photo.

Thanks so much! He put out that Santa Clara show as one of his many live shows; great version of 'Wagon Train to Hell' which he never put on a studio album.

Here's another story - when he did a gig here at Great American Music Hall in 2008, I got to go backstage and meet him for the first time, as I'd asked for permission to shoot photos at the gig. We all got on great, and when he did his set, he even threw in bits about 'Larry the photographer' into both 'Call of the West' and 'Camouflage'! Sure wish somebody'd recorded that.

And on the train trip, the last night, anybody who wanted to could come up on stage and do something; Stan asked me if I'd like to finish the night by singing 'White Rabbit', being from San Francisco and all - we ended up singing it as a duet with all the other musicians on stage as well - and somebody had brought along some really strong bud - I almost forgot the words - so my head was fed indeed! Sure wish somebody'd recorded that...
