Just got that 'Starless' box set the other day - it's got about 16 live shows from that era of KC plus the 'Starless and Bible Black' album and lots of other demos and such. I forgot what a great jam band they were; I'd think they'd be more popular with fans of that genre, but they're kinda dark and scary and not particularly danceable....

Also just got the Van Der Graaf Generator - The Charisma Years box set, with all the studio CD's plus a generous helping of live material - another 'prog rock' band who were prone to lengthy musical improvisations and were dark and scary and not particularly danceable....

Nothing like dark, scary prog from KC and VdGG are great listens on a dark, rainy day with no NFL.... :skull:

^ More Hubbard and Shaw goodness (their 1985 "Double Take" is also quite nice); this original press CD has a DR of 17! (and the original "Double Take" CD has a DR of 16!). So two great post bop releases from these masters, with that excellent clear and dynamic 80's production (if you're into that like I am).

^ Classic performance, but being recorded in 1945 it lacks fidelity.

^A reinterpretation of Mary's originals that still stays faithful (especially regarding the sense of play or fun) to the original performance.

I have that movie, though I could never really get into it. Yes, I like my B&W movies, and am James Stewart fan but Anatomy of A Murder never moved me.

Anyway, that album cover reminds me of the Clockers soundtrack's album cover....

yeah, somehow while going thru the D.E. catalog on qobuz this am I got that movie confused with 'Rear Window' which I've seen a few times, duh. also funny about 'clockers' I don't know how I didn't catch that either since I saw it in the theater back in the day along with every other spike lee joint. two things that are certain at least for myself, spike lee movies play out way better in theaters than small screen TV streaming and kurosawa movies are way more magical in BW vs color.

jeez, for that matter both of those opinions apply to every Jim Jurmusch I've seen except 'Night on Earth' I like that one only in color.
