The end of a long long prolific run!!!
They had lost Duane and Dickey, and reinvented with Derek and Warren. This album gets high marks for the SQ and that many tracks were not in their usual live repertoire. I've not heard it yet ... so will let y'all know what I think! :)

Edit: I updated my original post as well ... that is just a great live album. The SQ is tremendous as is the instrument separation and clarity. Recommended.

For me, there was a trio of albums by Herbie Hancock where the electronic keyboard assortment grew - which is fine - but the emotional essence of communication fell. These albums, in an silent odd way, sound tentative & meandering; they are: Mwandishi, Crossings, Sextant. 🤷🏻‍♂️
That ^^^ is how I feel about Crossings – lack of emotional attachment and thus meandering for me. Don’t have Mwandishi, but I do have Sextant, which I much prefer over Crossings; especially the track Hornets, a definite Miles influenced tune. In a funny kind of way (to me) it kind of feels like a summary of Miles Davis’s live album Pangea.

Anyway, if you want "meandering" try Miles Davis 1975 live albums from Japan - Agharta (afternoon show), Pangea (evening show) released a year later. Pangea only features two tracks - Zimbabwe (41:52) and Gondwana (47:05). Agharta 3 tracks – Prelude (32:29). Maiysha (12:20), and Interlude: Theme From Jack Johnson (51:36). Agharta is more upbeat, whereas Pangea is mellower. Overall, I myself prefer Pangea. But yeah, you definitely need to dedicate some listening time for these.

Agharta (Afternoon show, 1975). Pangea (Evening show, 1976)

This might as well be called a test record for planar magnetic headphones.
