What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Not everybody's favorite lineup of Motorhead, but it is mine - Robbo is so different from any other guitarist Lemmy had and gave the band such a different sound, but the way he builds up and structures his guitar parts is pretty amazing... Seems more like Robbo's Motorhead than Lemmy's, but I'm good with that, too....

Lemmy called Rob vagina man in an interview because of the way he dressed which wasn't the look they were after

But yes he is a good guitarist.

You know I grew up listening to these guys and can't believe they're all gone. Lemmy was a great lyricist. One of the few times a band going has affected me, silly really. Was listening to Space Ritual the other day and thought that's Lemmy doing the bass, he really made up their classic sound at that time.

Nicely funky rhythm right here! Many songs are critical of the state of affairs
in America in 2010.

Jeff Beck - Performing This Week ....png
Jeff added the bass solo when they performed this song at 2007 Crossroads.

Jeff was just a magician on the guitar. So expressive.

From 2010 and 2008, focusing today on the bass playing of Tal Wilkenfeld.
The other musicians are pretty good, too. HD800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> :)

Here is some introspection from Tal via Lex Fridman. Long, but worth it ...
she's an interesting person. Much discussion about working with Jeff Beck,
and then she hits the experience of making the album with Prince starting
at about 1:20 ... and it's fascinating.

Miles Davis Sketches of Spain (1960) (Mo-Fi SACD 2012). When I first heard this album, I didn’t particularly like it, though I do love the last track – Solea.

This is/was one of those albums fans either love or hate, perhaps even now. This album was inspired by Miles’s Wife Frances who would take Miles with her to see Flamenco performances by dancer Roberto Iglesias. Inspired by the music, Miles, along with Gil Even set out to create a Concierto de Aranjuez (concerto for a classical guitar).

Per Gil Evens… "[We] hadn't intended to make a Spanish album. We were just going to do the Concierto de Aranjuez. A friend of Miles gave him the only album in existence with that piece. He brought it back to New York and I copied the music off the record because there was no score. By the time we did that, we began to listen to other folk music, music played in clubs in Spain... So we learned a lot from that and it ended up being a Spanish album. The Rodrigo, the melody is so beautiful. It's such a strong song. I was so thrilled with that." Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sketches_of_Spain.

This one is classified as an orchestral or classical jazz” album and one I can’t argue with. Anyway, the more I listen to this album the more it grows on me, but my favorite piece still remains Solea by far.
