Today's chain is: iPhone 13 / Qobuz --> Mojo2 --> Vorzamp Duo --> Spirit Torino IEM.
Mojo + Vorz doing their usual best but I'm not certain the Spirit Torino IEM is the best for rock...

Going the other way, I listened to it on Spotify and like it so much I ordered this UHQCD...

Congrats on the UHQCD. Let us know how it sounds.

John Coltrane - Alove Supreme.jpg

Got my John Coltrane A Love Supreme (UHQCD) and after listening to it, the first thing I noticed is how weird the mix is with John Coltrane's Sax hard left and Elvin Jones' drums hard right. Sounds unbalanced to me, though I will note the other instruments, and even John's voice is centered. Just a hard left on sax, a hard right on, drums.

Not going to blame the CD process as I'm sure this came down to engineering mix, as I note some on discogs complaining of this with their LP releases, so... I'm really not a fan of the mix as it sounds unbalanced to me.

As for the sound quality of the UHQCD itself, it sounds wonderfully clean and devoid of hiss or digital noise, analogue sounding and definitely isn't loud as some manufacturers tend to do with recordings. However, being unfamiliar with mastering music itself, it's hard to judge how good the disc is. As an example, I've got various Mo-Fi (Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs) discs, and various copies of Mile's Davis's Bitches Brew, so I know their sound quality and can gage if a recording is bad or not. Here, I'm not familiar with either, so I just have to go on initial impressions which to my ear are good. As I said, the disc and recording are wonderfully clean, and clear.

All that said, I do like the music and concept of the album. Is it a favorite... not there yet, but I can appreciate it and why it's in my collection.

My two cents.

^ 2011 Audio Fidelity CD ripped to FLAC

Especially enjoying the infectious "Dreamline", which I can't get enough of in the Fall (or often any season!).

^ UK 80's urban soul/funk/RnB group. Not bad; great production on the first album.

^ Not as well known as he should be.

^ Near perfect production (maybe a little dark) and excellent performances. (I have the 3 CD version).

They kind of put me in the mindset of Skyy. In fact, were I mixing Tell Me, I'd mix it into Skyy's Let's Celebrate.

In my younger days, I used to DJ... before the days of scratching and all that other fancy stuff

I stopped collecting them somewhere around 2009. Have lots of their stuff, some on vinyl including that "Stories Without Words" not shown here. This is from my entire CD collection ripped to my NAS...

Spyro Gyra.jpg

Morning Dance and Catching the Sun where the first Spyro's I owned and thus are special to me. Still have the vinyl.
They have a great sound that's very easy to listen to, kinda like Steely Dan, but with different instrumentation. The sound is very tight, and the little fills by each instrument in the mix are excellent. The mastering of their music is outstanding as well, with great dynamics and very little compression / distortion.
