Sad to hear that Angelo Bruschini passed away. Mezzanine up there with my favourite albums of all time. Now playing.

I've a few Massive Attack albums including Mezzanine and 100th Window, though I've not played them in ages. Will have to give them a listen. Listening to Mezzanine now...

Sorry to hear of Bruschini's passing.

Fresh in: The Who - Who’s Next (SHM-SACD). This one sounds quite a bit different than the 1995 remix I’m used to. Baba O’Reily sounds kind of dark and muddy…not my favorite, but the other tracks are growing on me.

Arguably top three of Miles greatest release of all time. Ranking is debatable but Kind of Blue is tops for me :)

Over the last couple of days, I've been playing these a lot, and especially In A Silent Way. That one is magical. Listening to it now.

These are my three favorite Miles albums also, and I agree, the MoFi In a Silent Way is terrific.

For today some live in-studio and in-concert Snarky Puppy. Michael League is cool,
and I like the way he runs his band ... more like a band of brothers and sisters. These
albums are from 2014, 2016 and 2020.

Live album recorded at Kytopia Studios, Utrecht, Netherlands in 2013. That's
close to Utrecht, where the Metropole Orkest (see next album) hangs out. So
these back-to-back albums were recorded in The Netherlands. They must
have really liked it there. The band on this album consists of 20 musicians.
Cory Henry on the keyboards.

Tell Your Friends (specifically the song Skate U) introduced me to this band but this album took it to the next level for me. I still find new details with each listen (or watching the performance on YouTube). I think I like it more than Empire Central. Larnell Lewis is the man!

Do you have an SACD player? I was going to buy the John Coltrane A Love Supreme in that SHM-SACD version but two sites I looked at state they won't play in a standard CD player, so I didn't want to get stuck with something I couldn't play... or not be able to return once opened.

I know normal SHM discs will as I have a few of those, I know Mo-Fi's "hybrid" SACDs will play in a standard CD player as I've obviously a few of those. I guess those SHM-SACD discs are pure SACDs and thus only compatible with SACD players?

Anyway, just curious. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm really impressed in how good it sounds, and that's only on the two-channel layer as I don't have as SACD player. It's right up there with Kind of Blue, which is equally impressive sound quality wise. Better than the Blu-Spec version I have. On the other hand, I prefer my Bitches Brew Blu-Spec edition over the Mo-Fi edition. There the Mo-Fi sounds subdued. But that's a different type of music there, so....

BTW, nice pickup on that Who CD. I don't have any of their music, but I understand their significance

I bought Grover Washington Jr's Paradise and Bob James Lucky Seven at the same time. That was in 1979 when I was really beginning to get into jazz, well contemporary jazz at that time. Still have those vinyl records.

Two great albums from two great artists.

Can this really have been produced in 1969? Simpler arrangements without the horns of their live double album Rock of Ages, it’s got beaucoup energy!

Yeah, for me, their linked together - Grover Washington Jr's Paradise and Bob James Lucky Seven. BTW, I have all of Bob James albums up until about 2002 when I bought Morning, Noon, & Night (2002). I've also got a pretty good collection of Grover as well.

I see you're adding disco to the mix. Cool. I have that High Fashion album on vinyl. Bought that when I was stationed in Germany (81-83).

Don't have that Carrol Williams, but familiar with Salsoul Orchestra having some of their albums on CD, have more on vinyl. Absolutely love Tale of Three Cities, which is included on that anthology album. They made some great music. They put the Salsoul label on the map.

As a teenager of the 70's I do love my disco
