A strange time for CD buyers. Some CDs are priced extremely high, even many used CD's cost more than when they were sold in a period when the sales were still fine for this medium.
But then I came across this double CD. 5 Euro, shipping costs included. New, sealed in a plastic wrap.
So, when shipping cost is usually 3 euro, it counts 1 euro per CD. What?
It is not a well known ensemble name, nor a well known record label and the cover photo is eccentric, to say the least, for a periode ensemble's recording of baroque concerts. I think this is the reason the webshop decided to price it this low: It must be crap and maybe there is a fool out there who will buy this crappy CD.
The performance is truly excellent, in my opinion it beats those recordings by Martin Gester, Il Giardino Armonico, Hogwood and is tied with Andrew Manze's excellent recording.
And the sound of this recording is to die for: big, warm, sonorous and dynamic.
