To many foo fans this didn't seem to live up to some of their other albums or the sound of the others. For someone who's never heard any of their older stuff, I think it sounds fantastic!

I think the gripe was that is less edgy and experimental....kind of a safe album. I've got Wasted Light as well and I agree it is overall a better album. But, I like Sonic Highway. Kind of billed as an homage to their influences. I think of it as a big arena anthem almost classic rock sounding album less rooted in alternative rock....whatever that is anymore

.....still much better than most of what I hear on the radio. I'm all in for a band that's trying to make good  "rock music".
