Is the age of dynamic range recordings coming back and the loud wars era over? Daft Punk RAM was greatly recorded and the new Pharrell album is the same way: G_I_R_L <--Spotifty Link

And just like that, I've got 3 new albums with 6 new artists to listen to. This thread = awesome

Its a good album but the other 2 are better i think. "water" and "be good".

I am listening to this album at the moment - my favorite of the decade so far. It is amazing. ¬

Beautifully recorded, lovely textures and a great backup band. And then there is Joanna's gorgeous voice, harp and lyrics. Lovely album!

So, I just picked up two hyped albums from different genres and I think they both will  be strong year end contenders:

I get the Neil Young/Dylan/Springstein meets indie rock tag. Yeah-this is a really great sounding smooth rock album. The hype is justified.

I'm becoming more and more selective and, uh, picky about my life long love affair with metal. This is Trypticon. Sometimes categorized avant-garde extreme metal fronted by Switzerland metal legend and icon Tom Warrior-now about 50-this is a great modern metal album. But it is not indie rock. This is extreme, dark experimental metal. But, it's done beautifully. Enter with caution!

and, some old and new favorites:

Tool, Leteralus and Stephen Wilson-The Raven that Refused to Sing and Tesseract-Altered State: three varied prog albums...

Swans-The Seer (2012)-my favorite from '12

Three Blut Aus Nord-brilliant industrial Black Metal

Finally, some jazz

Weather Report-Heavy Weather

One week of listening
