Tzadik releases are always challenging and, most of the time, rewarding. "The trumpet as you've never heard it before", they said. They were right!

Agreed! Also, I don't know if it's something cultural but when an avant-garde/original/name it like you want artist comes from Japan they have their own trademark as well.

"He has the devil in him" wrote the influential daily newspaper "Figaro" after hearing this revelatory Waltz music by Austrian Johann Strauss jr.'s Viannese Waltzes in concert at the 1867 World Fair in Paris - Encouraging French musicians and the public to listen to the ingenious composer Johann Strauss and his devilish Waltzes.

The intimate dance for two caused a scandal: bodily contact, public displays of sensuality,
lasciviousness and eroticism were heavily frowned upon (you know, the good old days of proper morals and expected normal behavior)

1869 Viennese Newspapers would write: The Waltz is the invention of the devil. Ballrooms will pave the road for the conception of illegitimate children or so feared the guardians of Christian morality.

Note: in Afghanistan the Taliban recently out lawed musical instruments entirely, burning them in piles, kindled by books.
Back to the good ol' days, indeed.

Dare I...YES!

2010, Jeff Beck here creates an old-fashioned blues-rock-cum-prog record, balancing the sweeping vistas of a 64-piece orchestra with cool jazz-funk grooves. :sunglasses:
