Satchel is the name of the band. Shawn Smith (singer, piano) recently died
and it got me back into listening to his brilliant music. He had another band called Brad which included Stone Goddard of Pearl Jam. Check that out as well, “The Day Brings”. Awesome Music!

I've been going through this phenomenon in the last 10 years where the sound quality of this album kept sounding worse and worse. That is, until this release. This sounds very close to what I heard on a CD version when I was 16 years old, using an entry level Sony CD player into a Technics receiver going to Radio Shack Optimus speakers. Without a doubt, my 16 year old ears were much better, and I would say the CD version still has the edge.

Yes, I know it's unreliable that I have a memory of what something sounded like when I was 16 (I'm 53 now).
