There are bassists. There are brilliant, talented bassists. And then there is Bernard Edwards. RIP.

I picked this up several years ago back when my local Fry's carried cool stuff. Liked it so much I went back and bought the two remaining copies to give to my dad and brother. It's a phenomenal performance.

A few years later I picked up this DVD. It was actually heartbreaking from the very first song when I realized how badly his stroke affected his left hand. It looks like he's barely even pressing the keys. Still, I find it remarkable that he played the entire concert essentially right-handed and still put on a great show.

@pilgrimbilly . I have always liked good bass players and I agree with you; Bernard Edwards was one of the greats!
Some of my friends cannot understand why I like Chic and Sister Sledge. It's their loss
I bought the vinyl of 'Chic's Greatest Hits' in 1979 and then the CD version called 'The Very Best of Chic and Sister Sledge' a few years ago
I still listen to the CD a lot.

wish everyone used AEA Mics
my favorite mic by AEA is the R44 for vocals but for one mic this is one of the best in the world
AEA R88 stereo ribbon microphone used here

and then get ready for something really different-

try not to fast forward but I will say picking up around 4 mins into something truly moving
then it gets some electronic weirdness around 5mins

then try this version which is so organic and moving

we are so lucky to have good music like this in our time at our fingertis
so this is is what heaven feels like

Roy Harper's brilliant 1971 album 'Stormcock'.
He never achieved the commercial success he deserved, despite being immortalised on Led Zep III !
He was a huge influence on many great musicians including Ian Anderson and Jimmy Page.
I was very, very lucky to see him a few years ago at De Barra's Pub in Clonakilty, Co. Cork.
It was one of the best gigs I have ever attended, in an iconic, atmospheric venue.
I bought the remastered CD ( and several others) direct from Roy in Ireland. A very special album.

'The Same Old Rock' features a certain Mr Page on acoustic guitar, under the pseudonym 'S. Flavius Mercurius'
