I personally like your current avatar, although Mr. Metalhead is cool too. It's impossible to miss your music preferences based on the posts, LOL.I used to have this as my Avatar :-
because I was a Metalhead, but I think it went over most peoples' heads, that one

no one better live like her-
Finding a Neil Young cover that is as beautiful as the original, or even comes close, is as rare as finding a unicorn while wandering through a forest. This is outstanding. I am moved to tears. Thank you for posting, and thank you Cowboy Junkies and Margot Timmens for doing this song justice. Cowboy Junkies "Powderfinger"
and if this doesn't raise hairs on you neck- I must crazy
and Grace Potter is making love to the music
drop dead gorgeous performance
well here ya go

@John Massaria That cover of Neil Young's 'Powderfinger' by Cowboy Junkies is surprisingly good! Thanks for sharing.
It's one of my favourite Neil Young songs and I was lucky enough to see him play it live... on two occasions
Like you, I never expect to find any Neil Young covers which come close to the great man's originals.
I much prefer Neil Young's original of Powderfinger, but I really enjoyed Cowboy Junkies sensitive and brilliant interpretation of the song.
One man whose covers also stand comparison with Neil Young's originals is Nils Lofgren.
Having played on Harvest and been a member of Neil Young's band in the 70s Nils has certainly earned the right to cover Neil's songs.
I have been fortunate to see Nils as well, several times and even met him after a gig at a local venue!
He is a brilliant guitarist, both acoustic and electric.
This 2008 album of Neil Young songs is one I really like:
I really like Nils' version of Long May You Run on the album. Here's a live version:
For some virtuoso acoustic playing, (and great vocals..), the track 'Some Must Dream' from his 1997 album 'Acoustic Live' is absolutely brilliant. I love it!

Good idea Strat! Love this song, haven't listened to it in awhile...
Thanks @DLeeWebb. Haven't listened to that old Nils song for quite a while. I also love it!
I bought a 10 CD boxset called 'Face the Music' from Nils after one of his gigs a few years ago. It is a fantastic collection of songs and a prized possession
I have seen used copies advertised for sale in the UK for over £200!
I'll also have a listen to Neil Young's 'Live at Massey Hall 1971' album tonight. Another gem! Thanks for the reminder.
I probably have more albums by Neil Young than any other artist..
Well over 40 at the last count!
