Cross posted from the jazz thread, but deserves a wider audience...

The first track draws you right in with Kamasi blowing the heck out his tenor sax until it shrieks against a lush background including choir vocals and strings. Engaging stuff, although it's a shame the instrument separation isn't as good as it could be due to the compressed mastering - not something we should have to tolerate, especially with jazz recordings.

Kamasi Washington - The Epic

May I beg the indulgence of whoever has 'The Epic' as it is driving me absolutely nuts :/ Out of all the albums I have on my AK70 Mkii DAP (covering most genres), this is the one that won't play well. Specifically the 1st track "Change of the guard", It's a beautiful, busy track, but at around 2m 40s in all I get is 'BOOM' for a few seconds of play. I've tried both 16bit flac (ripped from cd) and 24 bit WAV (yes, I bought the album twice :frowning2: ) listening with Sennheiser IE80S iem's directly from the AK70 and HD660S OE's through an iFi iDSD BL. Both headphones are fitted with Forza cables which have been superb. Is there a flaw in my set up or does the track require stadium speakers ?

Oh, I'm listening to...
