Listening w/ HD650 > Rupert Neve RNHP > Teac PD-H600

Time takes time/ Ringo Starr.  Pretty decent album dating back to 1992.  Starr had been clean & sober for a few years and the songs are fresh & energized by an all star cast of musicians and producers with which he surrounded himself.  I especially like "We don't know a thing about love" & "The Runaways".  Some of the tracks deal with sobriety if you listen closely.  What I also like about this album is the heavy sound of Starr's drums.

Quote from George Martin, 1994 interview:

George Martin -- "Ringo always got and still gets a unique sound out of his drums,  a sound as distinctive as his voice. ... Ringo gets a looser deeper sound out of his drums that is unique. ...This detailed attention to the tone of his drums is one of the reasons for Ringo's brilliance."    I'm one of those who appreciates his drumming skills & style.

Two against nature/ Steely Dan.  The Dan is in my top three favourite bands.  This album came after a 20 year hiatus by Fagen & Becker.  Had they lost their touch ?  Not only they still had it but the album won a Grammy for best album of the year.  Their albums along with Fagen's single ones are produced with so much diligence & care that it makes their excellent music even better.  My son Daniel is now 25 & the Dan have been his favourite band since he was 14.  When we lived in Ottawa we drove for two days to Chicago to see the Dan in concert at the old Chicago Theatre for my son's 18th BD.  Best concert I've ever been to along with McCartney in Ottawa in 2013.
