Great choice. I own that recording on CD, SACD and vinyl. In my opinion, it's probably the greatest classical recording (or recording of any sort) in history (few others, like Solti's Ring Cycle, are at the same level).

...inspired by jackskelly's wise words yesterday, I ripped the Solti Ring des Nibelungen box set to my laptop yesterday; currently sitting at work, enjoying my lunch with a big grin on my face as I listen to the second scene of Das Rheingold.

John Coltrane / Archie Shepp - New Thing at Newport

"One Down, One Up" is so good.

Edit: Oh man, Bobby Hutcherson's playing is so phenomenal on "Gingerbread, Gingerbread Boy". Why don't I listen to this album more often?

Beau Dommage was a '70s very talented French group from Quebec/Canada now disbanded.  Their music was incredibly good.  Even if you can't understand French it's worth a listen just for their musicianship & great songs.  This was their second album "Ou est passee la noce ?" (Where has the wedding gone to ?)

I have that box set too. It's extraordinary (if you like Wagner
