She's damned brilliant.
I have seen her last Saturday in the Blue Note with her Trio, mostly tunes from the new "Alive" album.
Technically brilliant, highly dynamic but a lot of show. Rather dishing out in heaps than making every note count. I have seen her together with Stanley Clarke a few month ago (same location) and that was better. She unstoppable when she's in charge. A lot of the audience were Japanese and they loved her. I won't go see her live again. Just not my style.

Ohai! Long time no see! Wow I missed a lot. Job has been crazy. No time to read 600+ posts (cry)...
Maybe I've been the problem, maybe I'm the one to blame
But even when I turn it off and blame myself, the outcome feels the same
I've been thinkin maybe I've been partly cloudy, maybe I'm the chance of rain
Maybe I'm overcast, and maybe all my lucks washed down the drain
I've been thinking 'bout everyone,
everyone,
you look so lonely
But when I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
I see someone else
When I look at the stars,
the stars,
I feel like myself
Stars lookin at our planet watching entropy and pain
And maybe start to wonder how the chaos in our lives could pass as sane
I've been thinking bout the meaning of resistance, of a hope beyond my own
And suddenly the infinite and penitent begin to look like home
I've been thinking bout everyone,
everyone,
you look so empty
But when I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
I see someone else
When I look at the stars,
the stars,
I feel like myself
Stars
Stars
Everyone, everyone we feel so lonely
Everyone, yeah everyone we feel so empty
When I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
when I look at the stars,
I feel like myself
When I look at the stars,
the stars,
I see someone...

I've been comparing two highly regarded performances of Gabriel Fauré's two Cello Sonatas (Op. 109 and Op. 117).
Alban Gerhardt, cello
Cecile Licad, piano
![](https://www.head-fi.org/attachments/1140131/)
and
Peter Bruns, cello
Roglit Ishay, piano
![](https://www.head-fi.org/attachments/1140132/)
What most interested me about doing this comparison was the fact that the Bruns/Ishay performance uses period instruments while the Gerhardt/Licad uses modern ones. I like both versions very much and really can't say it's better one way or the other. I think they're equally valid approaches each with their own plusses and minuses.
Other listening:
J. S. Bach: 'In allen meinen Taten', BWV97; 'Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ', BWV177; 'Es ist das Heil uns kommen her', BWV9
Hana Blažíková, soprano
Robin Blaze, counter-tenor
Gerd Türk, tenor
Peter Kooij, bass
Bach Collegium Japan/Masaaki Suzuki
![](https://www.head-fi.org/attachments/1140134/)
Hermann Suter: String Quartet No. 3 in G major, Op. 20
BeethovenQuartett

Franz Schmidt: Concerto for Piano (left hand) in E-flat major
Markus Becker, piano
NDR Radiophilharmonie, Hannover/Eiji Oue

Robert Schumann: String Quartets from Op. 41-- No. 1 in A minor and No. 2 in F major
Eroica Quartet

Boris - Noise
http://boris.bandcamp.com/album/noise
Boris may have just created their most accessible record to date. That does not mean it lacks ambition, for this album is one of the smoothest rock records out there, full of the exceptional musicianship Boris are known for. To put a genre to the album would be a disservice to the music and everything Boris are working toward. This certainly is a labor of love and a product of three brilliant minds working together as one entity with a shared vision and immense comprehension of the various facets of that which is music.
