It was my first time listening to this and it was quite interesting. It'll need another listen or two to really sink in.

Listening to Merzbow's Rainbow Electronics II, on Jim O'Rourke and David Grubbs' reissue label Dexter's Cigar, and it's amazing.
It's abrasive, sure, harsh perhaps, but never brutal or deadening. It's continuously inventive. Not "funny" as such, but certainly humourous at times. There's a moment, for instance, when the electronic screeshes are so drenched in echo and reverb that you could almost be listening to dub (not quite). Not for the feint of heart, obviously, but a glorious, extatic study of sound for adventurous ears.
