Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
One of the greatest opening tracks to an album ever?

The Android's Dream EP is my favorite from Miyuki as well. It's just so awesome.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying The Disorder Diaries. I like part one surprisingly lot considering it's not that different from being a scrap book.

Deafheaven - Sunbather

Vinyl. This album has really grown on me since I heard it for the first time. I'm really happy with how the vinyl sounds. Compared to the digital version it's much less closed in and less fatiguing. A gorgeous record.

That's a great way of putting it. It really is no different from being a scrap book; makes me love it more! :)

I can only imagine how the vinyl sounds.. however speaking of Deafheaven, I decided to give their previous Roads to Judah EP a listen and it really is a nice one.  I feel the digital version doesn't sound quite as bad as the Sunbather record. A lot more head room, that is for sure.  Do check it out if you haven't already.

I've heard people say good things about the Roads to Judah EP. Some seem to even prefer it to Sunbather. I've yet to hear it myself but I will certainly check it out at some point.

Circus-P - Lucid (Special Edition) + CUPCAKE -EP

I'm currently listening to this. The 2-disc set containing Circus-P's debut album Lucid and the new CUPCAKE -EP came in the mail today and I had to immediately give them a spin even though I've already been enjoying both on my computer.

Here is something that is just really intriguing. I just discovered this a while ago and am trying to hear most of the album.  It is a remix tribute to the gold old soul, Billie Holiday.  I love Ms. Holiday, but I hate having to admit that I haven't explored her music as much as I probably should have.  However, this record has inspired me to do so.  The overall remix so far reminds of Neat Beats, but it is still much more different with a few samples of her voice tied into the music.  The old scratchiness of vinyl is incorporated into the remixes, which I love and feel only adds to the listening experience.  Do check this out if you love Holiday.  I would love to hear the thoughts of those who are huge fans as I have yet to dig into her world of music.

This album is so good, really beautiful and inspiring, one of the best of the year for sure, how they managed to grab a genre so abrasive and fuse it to give so uplifting music is beyond me, nice to see someone else around enjoying it

I'm listening to another of the year's best records as far as my tastes goes

They really outdid themselves with this one and put out their best album by far to this date.

I prefer Billie's earlier recordings for Commodore and Decca 1938-1950.  She sang with the greatest bands of that era and there were some great ones indeed!  In fact I just ordered the set of complete Decca recordings.  In later years her voice changed drastically becoming deeper, less in tune, lyrics more slurred.
