eating some stuff my nanny cooked for my wife, it is bleh, so I won't mention it haha

in my cultures tradition when the wife has the kid, they stay home for 2 months and eat plain boring bland food cooked by either mother in law or nanny

Calzone (again)

I had this a little while ago and posted the pic and I just ordered it again.

This is a more expensive higher end version. It’s really good.

The place where I got the calzone has a special wood fired oven.

Here’s their oven

Leftover pizza with egg (For breakfast)

This leftover pizza had no tomato sauce. Instead it had baked sliced tomatoes and topped with basil.

It’s not bad actually. I eat this with a knife and fork so the egg won’t slide off.

Having no tomato sauce makes it taste more like a flatbread so I think it perhaps helps blend with the egg better.

Pad Thai (finally a good version! )

Here in the U.S. I’ve always had mediocre versions of Pad Thai where it tasted too similar to Americanized Chinese food.

This version has a nice strong funky flavor. I can really taste the tamarind here along with the pungent fish sauce. No other Asian noodles from other countries can replace this great dish from Thailand. It’s unique and in a class of its own.

So far, Pad Thai is the best stir fry Asian noodle dish. When it’s a good version the flavors are bold, unique and complex.

Duck egg

Duck egg served on lightly toasted rye bread with butter made in Vermont and English Marmite spread.

A very high quality egg. The egg yolk is a little more rich compared the standard chicken egg. The egg white has a nice firmer texture.

A premium quality egg.

Reminds me of the yolks when my parents kept a few chickens, four decades ago. Always better than factory farmed yolks.

I’m now visiting St. Louis. Woo hoo.!

St. Louis style pizza here.

What’s interesting is that a lot of people hate this pizza. Part of the reason is because they use provel cheese which is an odd processed cheese. The crust tastes like a cheap cracker. But in St. Louis it is part of the food culture so I had to try it.

I actually like it. Glad I finally tried it. Yes it’s weird, it gets lots of bad reviews but it has its charm.

Notice that they cut it in squares rather than the triangle shape.
Glad I finally made it here in St. Louis

Edit: Provel cheese is not the same as provolone cheese
