Though they do have plastic, there is plenty of metal in the construction as well, making them quite heavy. The Pro4AAs share quite a few features with them.

X3 on the Pro4AAAs. Even with the aged pads, I'm finding that I really love those old cans when I need the isolation.

As for 4AAA vs. 4AA, if you can stand the extreme vise-gription, the 4AA is still in production. IMO, the 4AAA is far more comfortable, though.

I love these Pioneer's too. I would like to know how these Monitor 10R's compare to the Monitor 10's. Which has better sound quality?

I'll be happy to compare my old/vintage monitor 10 to these new Monitor 10R's.
The new Monitor 10R's are FR: 5 - 28,000 Hz Vs 20-20,000 (RAW).

I think the old Pro4AA is a terrible headphone, and I'm shocked to see that it's still available for purchase.

If someone out there actually likes these, or wants to relive some old skynnard albums exactly the way they did in the good old days, PM me, you can have my pair for cheap.

The new Pro4AAT is similar only in it's overall tonal balance, and is less funky, but still kind of ponderously bad in it's design. I'll throw it in with the Pro4AA.

Acix, I don't own the Monitor 10R but I found the photo somewhere and thought they were incredible looking and so I posted it. Yet, I do not think the one I posted was from 2002. Are you sure about the dating on these 10R's. There are newer 10R's that I have found that are all plastic but I don't think this one is from 2002. I could be wrong.

I hope you will share your impressions of the 10R with us later then!
(previous posts from a few years back were not so happy about the 10R, but it doesn't mean that the one you bought now is identical to what they sold back then even if it has the same model number)

Yes, when I posted this picture of the 10R's, I too wanted to know how they sounded. I am still not sure that were made in 2002 and I have written to several people to find out. I also thought about purchasing them but haven't yet.

I'm not sure when they made. My guess is around 2000-2002...
