-Used decent lower end Electrostatic Stax SR-5/ 5 Gold/ SRX/ Gamma/  Lambda etc ( need receiver/amp hookup or SRD-X  <---- I think that can act alone  ),
-A decent Orthodynamic new or used/ vintage,
-Something laid back like a decent Dynamic Senn 600/Philips 9000 ,or fun like an AKG 2xx model , or largely different signature like the Ultrasone pro2500 or 2900.

Malveaux also has a decent idea with his all rounders, but they are all Dynamics. Nothing wrong with that but I'd need some other types myself especially given the pricerange like that to use. And yeah heed his advice about after....

It's definitely interesting seeing the different approaches taken in this threads, such as three different all-rounders vs. dividing your listening into three chunks and tailoring each to one segment.  If I had to pick three all-rounders I'd be tempted to go with nearly the same three Malveaux did, the D5000, HE-300, and HD-650.
