Westone W60 Impressions Thread

Does anyone know if the W60 AutoEQ settings are for the v1?

Would the change be very different for the v2? Any tips or recommended settings?

Starting from those settings, a less pronounced change sounds better to me…

Does anyone know if Adorama has that crazy sale going for these? I think they were selling for $399 at some point. When I go to their website its selling for $999 at the moment.

Also, if anyone is thinking about selling their W60 please let me know.

slickdeals.net gave it to me when i've searched for westone w60 :)
Awesome - thank you. Why didn't I think to look there?

I've been using the Westone 4R for ages and I think it's time for an upgrade. I know there are more detailed and revealing IEMs out there for the same price, but I keep coming back to Westone because of the comfort and fit. I don't like iems that stick out of the ear. Ibasso, campfire, they just don't work for me.

Got the W60 r2 in recently and really liking them. Fit is amazing as always with Westone. They are a huge improvement over my old W4r. So much clearer in the mids, tighter and more powerful bass. Quite a bit more spacious sounding as well. I'm using an Ibasso Dx160 and Helm Bolt as sources using USB Audio player + Qobuz. I have a 4.4 balanced audio cable that I'm comparing with the silver 3.5 cable it comes with. No thoughts yet on balanced vs. single ended yet.

One thing to keep in mind when you are comparing 3.5mm to 4.4mm is too many different variables. The stock 3.5mm cables that comes with W60 v2 is silver plated copper. So, a true comparison will be against the same material cable with the same thickness wires, otherwise cable impedance might be slightly different. Also, I went back and forth many time with DX160 and 3.5mm vs 4.4mm, using the same balanced cable with and without adapter (the only variable in this case), and I always find 4.4mm in DX160 to have a wider soundstage and blacker background.

Good point Twister. My balanced cable is copper and not silver plated. So definitely a good number of variables. It's also a much beefier gauge.

But one improvement I am starting to hear is a wider soundstage, which echoes your findings.
