what a overly presumptuous statement.

Nice assortment of accessories. Both EPIC and MFi cables and that silver faceplate is better than the red and blue, IMO. But honestly if I was going to stretch things that much, I'd go custom. I guess they have to stay in the game though and these will appeal to those that don't want the hassle of getting customs.

But very boring, i understand they are taking the W series line from 1 to 6 drivers, so sticking with that line they are sticking with the same kind of design.........but i hate it, i dont care if it came out with 50 dynamics drivers and 50 ba drivers, i cant stand the new design. its lacks luster, totally boring in physical appeal, and i know we arent here for appeal of physical asthetics but more so sound.....i still just cant stand it.

and if the w40 is 500.00 i imagine the w60 to be in the 700+ range....now you are getting near the shure se846 which i think probably incorperates more technologies than the w60

Fair enough, but how can you say "very boring" concerning the aesthetics? It's the basic over the ear style that has proven ergo-comfort styling, only now they've given you the option to add color or just keep it black. Versatile styling without committing to one color choice at time of purchase! I wasn't turning cartwheels when they first announced the interchangeable faceplates but I can see the appeal.

Concerning price and technology advancements....well, it's the age old argument of diminishing returns. Are more drivers and crossovers and blah blah blahs really worth it?

Unbelievable. Now even westone is getting on this snake-oil multi driver race. hocus pocus..

I think Westone have always leaded the driver race. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the W3 was the world's first 3 driver universals, and also the W4.

I'm pretty sure there's a market for this. Even companies that make customs now also have universal shell option, still with hefty price tag. If the W50's and W60's perform up there with their price tag that would be cool. But from my experience with the SE846's, it's hard to make something in universal shell to sound up to the level of CIEM or even universalized-CIEM.

Disappointed that I am in the end of the ES5 process (they're in for a remold after a poor fit) at the time of the ES60 announcement... though once the fit of my ES5 is right, I don't think universals will appeal to me as much. Still, I'll be interested in the comparisons people make. ES60 sounds like it'll top ES5, but I do think it's strange they would trump their customs with a universal.
