So get them reshelled with fisher (inearz) or the like. If you were going to get the impressions for the tips this might be a better way. Cheers

For what they want price wise I may be better off finding another pair that are good and fit me well.

Do you have anything against trying the Westone "Star" tips?

I spent about $150 on UM56 custom tips which fit perfectly but I much prefer the sound from the star tips.

I've tried them as well and I'm still in pain/irritation after some time.

Damn :frowning2:

If all else fails I suggest trying the tip mod. I used this on W3, and SM3 v2, doing so opens up a world of tip options no longer leaving you limited to the tips that only fit Westones small nozzle.

It's not the tips, it's the actually the drivers housing. It's too fat and putting a lot of pressure on my outer ear.  I hate to say it, but it appears that I am going to have to sell these and try for something smaller. Maybe the SM3 V2s?

Hmm, I had more problems with SM3 v2 housing than W3, personally, I can see your problem.

Really? Were the SM3's bigger?

They weren't so much bigger (housing) just the nozzle didn't seem to agree with my canal as well, and because of the angle they went in the housing would press against the side of my ear. I would say at a guess the housing was just as long but not as tubby, you can see the W3 housings have a tubby look to them or slight buldge were as SM3 v2 was more slim line.

But really when we're talking ear geometry it's apples & oranges for each person.

I'm clutching my W3 close to my chest, just in case you are coming to get them back, H20Fidelity.

Still love my W3, thanks buddy.. Second pair that I have owned.

My UM-56 tips don't seem to seal as well as they used to - but comply tips are still king for me.

Oddly, I didn't experience any issues with fit/comfort with either IEM.

Yeah, but atleast I have an idea on the size. I feel like the W3 is just a tad too fat which is causing the discomfort. Maybe the SM3's will work out for me. Thanks for the input.

Hi fellow W3 owners,

I'm a W3 owner for about 4 years already. All along I was using iDevices as my source to pair with my W3.
Currently pairing it with iPhone 4S. I was wondering if there is any improvements to be made ? Change source ? Add dac/amp ? Or am I better off saving the money for desktop rig ? :D

Hi,

Looking to purchase the Westone 3. I understand the Westone 3 are rather efficient IEM's, but from your experience, do you guys think that a portable amp would benefit them, more specifically, a Fiio E12? I would be running them from an iPod Touch 4G.

Thanks in advance!
