So, I finally got my Westone 3's in the mail!
So far, I have put about 3 solid hours on them, both amp'd and unamped, and have listened to nothing but trance/progressive music (Armin Van Buuren, Dash Berlin, and Tritonal).
This is my first go at the big boy IEM's. I previously had the JVC-FXT90s which were an awesome IEM. They were excellent for my type of music, had a great seal, low microphonics, and were tough. After a year with them, I decided it was time for some new blood, so after countless reviews and threads I pulled the gun on the 3's. I got them as an open box special for $230 shipped.
These are without a doubt, way more in your face than the FXT-90s. The bass is a little bit tighter, but a lot more punchy. The vocals are crisp and clear with no sibilance that I can hear. I tried all the tips and so far the P series Complys are my favorite and give the best seal. Female vocals are divine, and the isolation is top notch. These will be my commuter IEMs while the FXT90s will be my "beaters" i.e. hiking, vacations, ect.
With my PA2V2 amp they sound a lot more musical and a tad brighter. I noticed more punch in the bass, but was disappointed that I was unable to get that awesome ear massage from the bass. I experienced no fatigue while amp'd (or unamped for that matter) and am quite impressed with the difference it did, but an amp is def not needed.
Now, I am going to let them play for 48 hours using my special burn in set.
The songs are carefully chosen, looking at graphic equalizers, that works all the frequencies and do exercise the whole driver. If anyone is interested PM me and I will link you to the download URL so you can see for yourself.
I'll post a full blown review in about a month when they are fully burned in.
So far, so good
