Oooh... I would love to hear this combo. The E5 has a great sounding DAC but only enough headphone amp power for IEMs. I bet amped through I actually bought a Creative X-Fi HD because I liked the E5 so much, and was sick of USB issues causing audio dropouts..... however it feels like a wasted purchase since anything I listen to more or less goes straight to the Walnut

Agree with you on this one my friend. How is the application of the Walnut? Have you tried to connect it to a laptop to the headphone jack?
Some initial impressions; If I had to use one word to describe this DAP it would be 'unforgivng' There is no mistaking if you have a clean or noisy recording as you hear it all unmasked. I now understand in a previous post that is was mentioned you could really tell the difference between WAV and MP3. I have been listening to Cohen - you want it darker and Scarlett Johansson - where I lay my head and coming from a C3/NX1 combo using ATH-M70x I'm not missing anything. The C3/NX1 is a little smoother w/ wider soundstage and the Walnut more raw and narrow soundstage but not bad, just more centered. I think the C3/NX1 may be very, very slightly more dynamic but i'm not calling that one yet until burn-in and more critical listening with varying genres. I think 24bit will have a real chance to flourish on this DAP. I have some Cohen and Classical 24bit that I'll try at some point. Size, Shape and Weight...absolutely love it! Very natural feeling and one-handed control is no problem. Light-weight and plenty of power. I will snap some pics later beside C3, Alien, iPod 5.5 just for sizing comparisons...if I get the chance. I am always hesitant to grab by C3/NX1 because of weight but the Walnut will live in your pocket and not even notice. This will be my carry-companion without question.
BTW...with the 8GB pre-filled card, MicroSD-USB adapter, bands, charging cable and 3.5mm cable this DAP is truly a steal! I am curious what tracks from the pre-filled card everyone has been enjoying? I will report when I have listened through it. (I think that should be okay for this thread since it's a Walnut-based topic)
I was saying same thing about the Zishan player until it developed problems. I am hoping that all the Walnuts V2 player to last years
