Sub'd and very interested in sony high end player... just waiting they announce a (very) high storage capacity (or sd card support) to buy it forgetting all the other brands!

Why wait, if you don't need Android, then just get an iBasso DX50 instead.

I was wondering about fiio x5 but, frankly speaking, I am more confident with a brand as sony instead of ibasso or fiio.
They have more experience and they are a bigger company. Furthermore, if I have a problem with a sony product it is easy for me to find a customer assistance, unlike little chinese companies.
Last but not least, I search for a hi-fi sound but I appreciate the possibility to connect my player via bt or wi fi listening to the music in the car or by friends.
So please, sony, here is a potential customer that is just asking for more storage! :)

I would go the route of importing a 64GB F887 from a seller on Amazon. Hopefully with more sellers doing that there, the Japanese model will be available fairly early on in the process.

I would love to have external controls back again!

This is the other Walkman revealed at IFA. Currently there is no information about it except that it is still a prototype and that it is an even higher end model of the F series.

It's the proprietary S-Master HX Dac/Amp combo.

And it will sound darn good.  Iriver now has something to fear.

Problem is with 24/192 files even 64GB isn't that much. 64GB is a minimum I would think for a high end DAP.

Yes, that's the only problem.  I own the F807, a current model, with 64GB and love it.  If it means anything, the F walkman data transfer rate is equivalent to the Class 10 SD card speed.
