anything you guys can suggest that is clearly a level above my gr07 be that is ~300usd(the target  price point for the 7007)? or better yet something that should be the equivalent of the 7007?

Well, Vsonic's CEO has been making fun of Atrotec for their AX60, so I guess the v7007 (or whatever) might come out eventually but Vsonic is focused on their new line-up, so this won't be any time soon. You might wait for the new VSD7, which will be replacing the gr07. Or maybe the VSD9 but due to its magical diaphragm it will be very hard to get and will be circa $600.

2016 now.......at least there was ups and downs, highs and low, and even political drama in this thread. So nothing after the GR07 line and VSD5S? I was interested in that GR07 coax.
