I inherited these and am not sure which I have. I'll be using them in a desktop situation and would like to order the S adaptor if appropriate. Any way I can tell which I have?

visual difference between ER-4P and ER-4S?

The visual cues can only be found in the pod.
With newer models it is stamped with a P S or B.
On older models the pod was color coded. P is green, S is silver or grey, and B is Black.
I could be wrong though. Enjoy your Etys, and welcome to the club.

the pod being the plastic piece where the cable splits into left and right? It's grey. These are fairly old. I'd say '04-ish.

I would say you have the S series then.
