VISION EARS Q&A - Hello from Cologne

Still hoping for more universal options, which I know I am not alone in.

+1 regarding the availability of universal options

We get that a lot. And we know that it would be nice for many customers to have something with a resale value. But we are coming from the development of high class and perfect customized earphones. This makes us always aim towards a high degree of possible customization to create a companion for a long time – or even the whole life. Coming from there, as we are showing with the ERLKöNIG, our approach towards generic earphones is to create something special which is more than just another standard earphone.

But be sure, we have your request in mind and always check for new ways of delivering something unique.

Are there any plans to offer a reshelling service for your IEMs? I know a lot of CIEM companies have been moving away from it because of the costs involved, but the inability to transfer ownership is definitely a point of concern for anyone looking to get a custom.

As this question kind of goes to a similar direction, I combine those in one post. Basically, you are answering the question yourself: Reshelling or owner transfer is a thing that makes no sense for us. Let me explain why:
When we are building a CIEM, we are doing this with the aim to provide an item that can be used for a long time and should provide sonic and visual pleasure for that time, too. Therefor we (VE) are putting a lot of effort into the building of every single CIEM we are producing. Just to name a few processes: We are filling the shells with material, so it looks great and the technical components are protected from hits and shocks. Furthermore we are lacquering the shells instead of polishing them. And the form of every single ear is different, which means that we have to do slight adjustments to the technical components so they fit perfectly in the respective shell.
All of this means that we cannot just take the technical components out of one shell and put them into another one. A reshell therefor means basically to build a completely new CIEM from the scratch. And this means that we cannot offer a reshell for a lower price because it basically is (at least) the same work as a completely new CIEM.

Hope you understand that.

All the best,

Johannes

Hi @Vision Ears

I've been a happy VE8 owner for more than 17 months.
A couple days ago I went to a store in Bangkok and demoed the Elysium pretty intensively.
The Elysium sounds fantastic and it interests me a lot.

There is a thing I would like to know before I'll get my custom impressions for the Elysium. Though wearing VE8 is very comfortable, the consistency of sound is not very good when inside my ears get oily after wearing iems for a while. I prefer the fit and isolation of my 64 Audio N8 (open mouth impressions with bite block).

I know that Vision Ears suggests to keep jaw relaxed and mouth closed when taking the impressions. However, what if I take the impressions using a bite block? How about the comfort, consistency and isolation?

Hi KhunChang,

Happy to hear that! Both parts ;o)

Unfortunately we cannot relate to fitting processes of other manufacturers. For us, the reference are closed mouth impressions. We also give a warranty on the fit of 3 months from the delivery. That means that you can ask us to modify/improve the fit of your CIEM, if it should not be good from the beginning.
But we can keep that issue in mind when producing your ELYSIUM. So, if you are going to order the ELYSIUM, please add following information:

- A comment on what you would like to improve referred to the fit of your "old" VE8

- Your original VE order number (VE18XXXMM). So we can grant you the VE FAMILY DEAL. This is also possible at all our resellers.

I hope that helped you a bit.

All the best from Cologne,

Johannes

HI,
If I want to upgrade my VE2 to VE6, do I need to ship it back? Is this the same as VE family deal or it is something else?

Hi Jesse,

It is not possible to upgrade an existing earphone. This is because of various reasons. For example, we fill our shells with a material in order to protect the technical components and to have a better visual appearance of the earphone.

But the family deal applies to you, if you bought an CIEM from us before. So you will get a discount on every other CIEM you will order from us. All information on that can be found on our WEBSITE.

All the best,

Johannes

We are working on that. But we did not find the right match yet. We will let you know when we have one.
Hi. I have not heard anymore on getting a dealer in the US. Any chance it can be MusicTeck. I have used them in the past and Arnold is a good salesman as well. He takes care of his customers both pre and post sales. I would love to be able to listen to both the VE 8 and the Elysium. I had listened to a VE 6 a while ago, and was very impressed. I own a few TOTL IEM’s and they are excellent, but still looking for the IEM that can come the closest or equal my stereo speakers (Rockport Altair’s if you have ever heard them). Thank you.

I had another question. Does Vision Ears make the King Arthur IEM that Effect Audio sells? Just curious as I had received an email from them about it, and the other IEM’s they sell are made by Vision Ears. Thank you.

No, those IEMs are from Empire Ears. VE's had other collaborations with Effect Audio before though.
