Having questions will be enough of a clue.

BTW Is anyone actually interested in Blue Note Poet or Classic Series impressions? I doubt it. It’s pretty much a repetitive same thing. You know they sound great, are made well, or anything else there’s to know. 45RPM surely will continue with BN reviews/impressions so there’s no point to talk about it here. I think…..
Back to music.

Would be cool if BN reissued some of their 10” LPs in the Classic Series…

Doubt it. It’s hard enough to press standard 12” in timely matter. They finished transferring/mastering/ test approved records for 2024. Pressing them and getting the jackets is the issue. Don’t think they have time and energy to go fancy.

But then there was that Charlie Parker box set (which is seriously tempting)…

I don't really know that much about jazz, not like some. While there's enough there that I do like. So I try to absorb as much as I can. I really like the quality of the BN classics.

One thing I don't like, don't slap me, is endless improv without any musical arch I can detect, and Stan Getz high as a kite singing totally off-key claiming it's bossa nova desafinado.

About the drumming match, Buddy Rich also did that with Gene Krupa. You can even see it on YouTube. While he's a very good drummer I think there's no one as important, innovative, playfully and intelligent as Gene Krupa.

It should be.

I’m no Jazzbum either. It took me a while to warm up to it and then understand it. Now, it’s 50 percent of what I listen to at home.
I’ll finish this post and expend on it tomorrow.
(can’t post links and pics for some reason).

Back to Bjork, I listened to Fossora yesterday as 'I don't wanna go to bed yet' music, with a bit of a buzz which I need to get to sleep, and I really enjoyed it. It's weird music, but it's like a soft rain. Drops of sound falling in a black background. Different sizes, different places, but in a certain rhythm. It's a constant up and down. Loud and quiet, a blotch here, a dab there. Little islands of sound forming a dark archipelago with an intent, a purpose. Maybe it's ahead of its time, maybe it's never going to catch, ideosyncratic, or just björkish. It is not meant to be for the masses, or mass consumption. It's unique, artistic, beautiful and weird.

It is not as weird as 'Drawing restraint 9'. With the breathing exercises, or gutteral singing. That album can really be off putting.

If you want a really beautiful album, sonically and musically, you need to listen to 'Vespertine'.

Thanks for the effort to get over my prejudice towards Björk but that’s going to have to go on the back burner while there’s a ton of new interesting records coming out.
But at some point, I’ll give her another chance.

Speaking of drums. There’s a nice solo on this track. Conservatively and safely placed a bit too far back but still coming thru cleanly and with nice, intimate presence.
LP record sounds pretty freakn spectacular for the asking price. 2 LPs at 33/3 to expend on dynamic range and have enough room to avoid unnecessary compromises.
Extremely happy with this album.

This has a bit more funk, rock, bite to it. Very cool, Charles Bronson ‘Death Wish’ kind of a soundscape from the early 80’s action movie that takes place in ashy, run down slums of the Bronx. There’s a bit of improv and cool ways to experiment with instruments, sound and ***** cat vibe of the record. Very cool. Check it out, you might like it….

And few records that piqued my interest. First one costs like silly money on secondary market. And it’s mastered by Bernie Grundman on all tube gear. (Def my record to get). And it’s Bill Evans.
2nd album is just a good blues/rock that is hard to pass on. Limited.

I’ve seen it and they’re all great in my book. I would also add Art Blakey to the circle of that hall of (drummer) fame.
No worries, I still can’t digest some of free Jazz and improvs that slightly talented 10yo could be proud of.

Here you have another indication of just how small the 1019 is:

Listening to ‘Mean Monday”

No coincidence. Not sure when I’ve heard about it but Yello Flag in new 2020 ( correction 2022) reissues is coming out in November with some extras.
Could be fun…

Spinning Billy Squier ‘Don’t Say No’.

Mastered by Kevin Gray. I think that’s self explanatory. Those with doubts….., don’t do it to yourself. It sounds as good as it looks. Great reissue. Highly recommended.
