Anyone here has ever heard the modi multibit? Since it was just released recently

Yes.

I assume you're looking for comparisons, which I've posted a few in the other threads against the base 4490 version of the Modi. Otherwise, I've not compared (nor will I have much time to) versus things like Bimby/Gumby/Yggy. You're probably better looking in those threads for user impressions:

Thanks but I dont think that I can afford those two DACs *sigh

The reply about what the most affordable current R-2R DACs was incorrect.

While Audio-GD and Metrum both have them, they're at the high end of the standard audiophile price range.

The most common multibit DACs currently are from Schiit. They have a Bifrost Multibit and Modi Multibit now, with the Modi coming in at $250. While I don't love the Bifrost Multibit, it's still a taste.

I personally prefer the non-oversampling R-2R tube DACs from MHDT Labs. I currently own both an Atlantis and Canary, and both use R-2R chips (AD1862N-J on the former, TDA1545A on the latter). They aren't exactly cheap, but they're still well under $1000 (the Canary being less expensive at $700).

Another very good option in my book is the Starting Point Systems DAC 3, which uses TDA1543 chips. If you bid on one, you can get it for under $300 if you're lucky: http://www.ebay.com/usr/leopardo42?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Those are a great taste of both R-2R and NOS mode.

You'll find dozens of other options out there from China if you want to go really cheap, but I'd suggest starting at the Starting Point Systems DAC if you want to keep the cost minimal.

I think you should try to get your hands on a used Theta... Like a pro basic 2 ect. That or a used DAC 19 can be affordable. Other then that it depends on what sound signature you like. Schiit seems to be hit or miss with me. Like the Vali, don't like the Asgard 2... So I have no clue how the their modi R2R will sound. May or may not be the signature you are looking for. Good luck

Anyone  familiar with this diy DAC company? Strictly 1704U-K implementations. I emailed them for a price quote on their 2 DACs.  Anyone heard or own one of their DAC builds?

I am not the most tech savvy guy so looking forward to opinions/feedback of those much more knowledgable. Kingwa does an 8 chip 1704U-K DAC implementation for $2300. This company's 8 chip 1704 implemented DAC goes for $8K. Is there  any apparent and obvious reason, from  looking at the photos of both these DACs with their top covers removed, as to why such a huge disparity in asking prices for, what appears to me, to be fairly similar styled units. Tks

LB Audio is in the states so expect a bigger price tag. AudioGD is in China. Best dig around for some reviews. There is an AudioGD thread on this forum, I would ask some of those owners.
